Clonegal, the finish (or start!) point of the Wicklow Way, is an attractive one-street village centred around the four hundred year old Huntington Castle.
Either Sean O'Duin's or Osborne's provide the perfect ambience for a celebratory pint to mark completion of the Wicklow Way. However, Osborne's has the added attraction of a bar counter made of coffin lids, perhaps a perfect resting place for those who feel they have just completed a "near-death" ordeal! They may also offer a Completion Certificate for the walk.
In Summer months a conducted tour of Huntington Castle is well worth the extra time. The property is still lived in by descendants of the original owners the Durdin-Robertson family. The entrance is just off the main street near Osborne's.
Bus Éireann operates a twice daily service from Bunclody via Kildavin (3km from Clonegal), to Dublin.
